Seminario Nacional en El Salvador

Mario Lara, querido hermano y colaborador, tiene en sus manos el "poster" que anuncia el Seminario Nacional para Predicadores y Maestras, que llevaremos a cabo los días 12 y 13 de Noviembre de 2010, en la ciudad de Ahuachapán, en El Salvador. El tema central será: "Cómo mejorar tu familia". El año antepasado, cuando tuve el privilegio de ser el conferenciante invitado, se reuniéron más de 250 personas tanto de El Salvador como de Honduras y de Guatemala. Contamos con su presencia y con sus oraciones para el éxito de ese evento. A Dios toda honra y gloria!

Viaje al Brasil (Cd. de Recife)

Gracias por sus oraciones durante el tiempo que estuve en Brasil (del 12 al 24 de Agosto), y también por el apoyo a mi esposa Maria Teresa que se quedó sola en Abilene. En dos fines de semanas pudimos visitar y animar a unas 20 congregaciones y enseñar 16 horas acerca de la Palabra de Dios. Me gustó ver en Brasil una iglesia que crece. También fue agradable ver a un país que crece de muchas maneras. En los 12 días, por las oraciones de los hermanos, pude sentir la protección y la guía de Dios en todo el viaje. ¡Somos compañeros de ministerio! Lou y Teresa Seckler

Thanks for your prayers and thoughts during the time I was in Brazil (Aug. 12-24th), as well as your support for Teresa who stayed home by herself. In the short two weekends we were able to visit and encourage close to 20 different churches and teaching 16 hours of class time. It was refreshing seeing a church growing numerically as well as spiritually. It was great seeing the country of Brazil growing in all different aspects. In all the 12 days, because of your prayers, I could feel God's protection and guidance throughout the trip. We are partners in the ministry! Lou & Teresa Seckler

La Mancha - Nueva congregación en Cd. Chihuahua

Recibimos información de Javier Adame, misionero en Cd. Chihuahua, que dentro de poco tiempo empezarán a construir la barda que cercará el terreno donado por el gobierno municipal para la iglesia de Cristo. Luego construirán el nuevo edificio. En la foto vemos algunos miembros de la iglesia de Cristo de la Colonia Guereca que fueron al local orar pidiendo la bendición de Dios hacia la nueva obra. Estamos muy contentos porque con esa congregación ahora tendremos once locales de reuniones de las iglesias de Cristo en aquella capital. Adelante, hermanos, ¡qué la nueva iglesia sea para la gloria de Dios!

El hermano Nacho Herrera reporta el bautismo de una nueva hermana. Que Dios les siga bendeciendo. Que la hermana pueda servir a Dios en su nueva vida en Cristo.

A success story

About a couple of years ago, when I met Luis at the Middleton Unit (TDCJ), I could tell he was ready to learn about Jesus and His Word. Luis was in his late 20's and often told us about his flight from his native Cuba in a makeshift raft which came apart in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean on the way to Miami. As the lessons continued every Tuesday evening, Luis was getting more excited about his new-found faith. He read his Bible so much and so often he soon worn out his paperback copy of the Scriptures. Luis became my co-teacher and shared with other inmates from his heart and his findings his perspective about the gospel seen from inside the prison. Because of his exemplary conduct Luis was freed long before completing his sentence.

When he arrived in El Paso to be with his wife and children, because of his criminal past, his wife resisted him, even though he told her about his new faith in Jesus. This became a challenge to Luis who persevered in prayer and in humility serving and modeling his faith in Jesus to her and his children whenever she allowed him. When things in his life got beyond what he could bear he would call me for support. After praying for him and consoling him I would direct him to the local church who was better equipped to help him and his family. In the meantime, helped by the Christian Service Center, we have sent boxes of clothing for Luis and his wife and children.

Then they started attending Mountwood Church of Christ in El Paso, who adopted that family and started helping in whatever they needed. Recently, while attending a Ladies Class, Maria opened her heart to the sisters present. They surrounded her with love and tenderness, offering all the help they needed. Last Sunday Maria could no longer resist the love of the Lord which came to her through her husband Luis and the local Christians. Following the morning worship María was baptized. When I called her on Tuesday to congratulate her she told she had never felt so happy. We praise God from Whom all blessings flow.

Todas las lecciones las centramos en Cristo y la basamos en la Biblia Sagrada. No tardaremos en tener disponibles a quienes nos los soliciten. Limitaremos a uno por iglesia. A new DVD series about Shared Leadership. Albert Acosta and myself spent all morning today recording six lessons about leadership in the church. All lessons are Jesus centered and Scripture based. "El Señor es mi pastor" - Libro publicado en Guatemala

"El Señor es mi pastor", libro de mi autoría, que contiene 20 lecciones basadas en los Salmos, lo publicamos en Guatemala recientemente. Ese mismo libro, hace cuatro años, lo publicamos en Mexico y distribuímos en aquel país. El año pasado lo publicamos en Brasil ("O Senhor é meu pastor"), para iglesias locales y de Portugal. La publicación actual es para distribución en las iglesias de Cristo de America Central, con el fin de auxiliar a nuestros líderes en sus respectivos ministérios. Agradecemos al hermano Byron Huertas por su colaboración. Que Deus sea loado!

"El Señor es mi pastor" (The Lord is my Shepherd), a book that contains 20 lessons based on the Psalms has been published in the country of Guatemala. This same book, I wrote fours years ago, was published in Mexico and distributed throughout that country. Last year same book (in Portuguese) was published in Brazil and mailed to local churches as well as Portugal. The current publication is for distribution within Central American churches to help church leaders with their ministries. May God be praised.
